Remy Morimoto || Veggiekins
Name: Remy Morimoto Park
Location: NYC!
- What are some things that you're absolutely passionate about? All things that nourish the body, mind & soul. Vibrant vegan food, kind and conscious purchases and spending time with ourselves every once in a while. I love animals, yoga, herbalism and travel .
- What do you do? Work/school? I run Veggiekins Blog full time, where I share vegan recipes and nontoxic recipes for the body and home. I create YouTube videos and share on Instagram too! On the side, I am a holistic nutritionist, food stylist and professional chocolate chip cookie eater.
- What is your health philosophy? I believe in the power of plants, and advocate for a primarily whole food plant based way of eating, with balance. Same applies to movement—exercise and movement is so healing for the body, but in moderation. I think that in order to be truly healthy, it’s important to take care of our bodies, mind and energy but ultimately, it's important to keep mindful that our relationship with health is healthy too! Taking care of ourselves should never become stressful, or restrictive. Listening to our bodies is one of the best things we can do because our bodies always know.
- What's your favorite self-care ritual? I love mornings, and having a morning routine is something that helps me start my day right. I make the time to make matcha at home, dry brush my body, and gua sha my face no matter what.
- What's one food you could eat every single day? I would say cookies but aside from dessert, I think I could eat broccoli every single day! It's such an underrated vegetable.
- Who inspires you the most aka your role models? My mum is my biggest inspiration because her energy is always so positive and infectious. I try to channel her energy at all times, and particularly when things get tough.
- Where is your favorite place to travel to? My favourite place to travel to is Amsterdam. My partner lives there, and it's a completely different pace of life. It's always a really nice change of scenery, and from there, we usually travel to nearby countries within Europe.
- What's a social cause that means the most to you? I used to think it was animal advocacy, but I realized that animal advocacy (the way most people view it) requires a bit more of an aggressive energy. I'm naturally quite introverted, so I advocate for animals by sharing vegan recipes to inspire others to try one more vegan meal every once in a while. Now, I like to think my cause is kindness. The best way to approach others is with kindness, no matter what their beliefs are and my personal approach to life is to try to live life in the most compassionate way possible. That applies to the food I eat, the things I purchase and the way I interact with others. That's a little (vegan) cheezy, but hopefully that makes sense.
- How do you balance personal life and work? It's something I'm working on to this day because the line between work and personal life is very fine for me. Part of my work is sharing my personal life and it's also a lot easier to overwork when you do something you really enjoy. I commit to Friday afternoons completely offline whenever possible, and the most important thing for me is to make su
- Chocolate or peanut butter? Peanut butter!
- Pancakes or waffles? Pancakes :-)
- Favorite thing about Coconut Whisk? The convenience, and the fact that the mixes are nut-free. My mum and sister both have allergies to nuts, so while I can make delicious vegan food, doing so without nuts can sometimes be a challenge, especially when you're gluten-free! Also, I love that the mixes can be made sans oil, with substitutes if you'd like.
- Any advice you’d like to give to your younger self? Listen to your body, instead of trying to ignore what it’s telling you. At a young age, we lose touch with our bodies, and the majority of my wellness journey has really been about reconnecting with and understanding my body.
- What are some long term goals that you're currently striving for? (Kind of related to above :))
-
Health = Wealth. Do you agree? Yes! When we are not at our 100%, the work we do/relationships we are part of/energy that we share will never be 100% either.
